| The Bussell name is synonomous with Margaret River, Alfred and Ellen Bussell opening up the region in 1857 when they settled at Ellensbrook - 9kms from here. Then, in 1876, the family name became world-famous when Grace Bussell (at the tender age of 16 years) and Sam Isaacs rode their horses into raging seas to rescue shipwrecked passengers and crew from the ill-fated SS Georgette.
Greg Bussell (a direct descendant of Alfred and Ellen) and his wife Mary, developed this delightful eco-tourism facility in the late 80's/early 90's. Like their forbears, they were true pioneers...this time in the field of tourism. In October of 2001, Bushland Cottages Pty Ltd purchased the property and business and appointed Terry and Cath Hornby as managers. We have, since then made gradual improvements to cottage comforts, while retaining the simplicity and charm which has endeared Bussells Bushland Cottages to its many repeat guests. The property is located 5kms north-west of the Margaret River township and offers an ideal holiday retreat with quality accommodation. It's located adjacent to the Leeuwin Naturaliste Ridge, providing easy access to the national parks, beaches, caves and native forests of the region. And only a short drive away are internationally acclaimed wineries, galleries, potteries and restaurants. In short, it's the perfect property in the perfect location.
